The “Via Appia” is the first and most important of the great roads built by the Romans, also known as the queen of roads (Regina Viarum, in old Latin). It was built towards the end of the 4th century BC, in 312. First road built by Romans from Rome to Brindisi, about 700 km far southbound,
From May 21st to 23rd, we will enter the heart of the Regina Viarum and tell the story of the Appia Way, the "Regina Viarum", with our eyes and hands.
A sketching experience amidst glimpses, monuments, and timeless landscapes.
Watercolor, pencil, ink, and pastels: the only rule is to create from life, immersed in history.
Participation is open to all; simply show up at the indicated locations and times for registration.
• Day 2 Meeting : Friday, May 22nd - Registration: 10:00 AM | Fondi (LT) · Ponte del Viceré de Ribera, on the Via Appia Antica between Fondi and Itri
[Reachable by car].
Once registered, you can move freely and draw whatever moves you most, without time or technique limits, with one rule – create live, immersed in the Appian Way.
We invite you to submit your works by May 30, 2026 (minimum resolution 300 dpi) to info@reginaviarumfestival.it.
The best sketchers will be awarded prizes and will have the opportunity to exhibit their works in a dedicated group exhibition.

Let’s sketch colorful roses against the backdrop of charming Western-style architecture. Around 150 varieties of roses are in full bloom in the English-style garden in front of the British House. It will also be fun to draw the striking Osaragi Jiro Memorial Museum building.
In case of rain, the venue may be changed to “Bluff No.18.” We will announce any changes on this page the day before.
