Great Buddha of Kamakura

Kotoku-in offers a peaceful open-air setting with the iconic Great Buddha, gentle greenery in the background, and a calm temple atmosphere.


Please note: Kotoku-in requires an entrance ticket — ¥300 for adults, ¥150 for children.
Date: 23 September 2026 (Wednesday)
Sketching Time: 10:00–12:30
Meeting Time: 9:35 to 9:45 a.m. at the station.
Meeting Point: Hase Station (Enoden Line), outside the ticket gate.
We start walking toward Kotoku-in at 9:45 a.m.
Kotoku-in Rules Relevant to our Sketch Meetup
1. No food or drink is allowed inside the temple grounds.
2. Keep pathways clear, do not block walkways with sketch stools or bags.
3. Tripods and large equipment should not be used, as they may obstruct movement.
4. Inside the Buddha statue(special tickets required): photography is allowed, but selfie sticks are prohibited.
5. Avoid sketching inside the statue, the interior is too small and not permitted for such activities.
6. Respect the worship atmosphere, keep noise low and avoid blocking visitors’ view of the Buddha.
